FO Friday: January 29, 2016

I've been pretty busy the past two days. I've finished three projects! And they are ones that haven't made it to WIP Wednesday posts of their own. But, like this week's WIP Wednesday, I had talked about them on the podcast.

The first is the Simply Shells Slouch Beanie by Beatrice Ryan Designs.

I had used Red Heart Super Saver in Bright Yellow and used a 5.0mm (H) hook. I finished this last night and it is going into the charity pile. :)

Second is a Round Basket by Lily/Suger n' Cream.

I used Red Heart Super Saver in the never-ending Sherbet Print colorway and on a 4.0mm (G) hook. It's currently keeping all of our incenses together, which is way in the picture it doesn't look round but square. But hey it's doing it's job.

And third, last but not least, is the Bear Lake Hat by Victoria Hewerdine Thornton from Interweave Crochet the Fall/November 2012 issue.

This is the first color-work crochet project I've done and it turned out bigger then it was suppose to. It's suppose to be a beanie, but mine's is more of a slouchy hat. It's a good thing I like slouchy hats. :D I've crocheted it out of Red Heart Super Saver in Coffee, Camo, and Burgundy and Red Heart With Love in Pewter. I used a 3.5mm (E) and 4.5mm.

I'm pretty pleased with myself. Hopefully I can keep it up.

WIP Wednesday: January 27, 2016

Today's work-in-progress is one that hasn't been shown on the blog before, but if you watch my podcast you would've seen it and heard about it. It's the Wheat scarf by Tin Can Knits.

It's one of the many Tin Can Knits patterns that I'm working on and I'm enjoying it, of course. I'm knitting this up in Red Heart Super Saver in the Tea Leaf colorway and on size US 8 (5.00mm) straight needles. I've gotten a lot more finished on it today the the last few times I had worked on it. It's very simple, so I've been working on it while catching up on Ravelry (I've kind of disappeared for a while) and blog posts. This will most likely be a charity object when it's finished. I don't wear too many scarfs and I'm sure there are many people who need it more then I do.

A small non-crafting detail: The past few days were kind of stressful for the Williams' household. Monday night, while I was at work, Jordan was sitting with Harry when Harry started gagging and freaking out. He then tensed up and fell over and wouldn't sit up, he would just fall back over. We think he might have had a seizure. I took him to the vet yesterday morning, they did a radio-graph on his intestines (he has a history of eating string) to see if there was a blockage. There wasn't, but they were a little wavy so he is on Cat Lax to clear out whatever is in his system. They also did some blood work, which we got the results for this morning. Everything is perfect, the blood work came back clear. We just have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't start throwing up and stuff like that. But he's been acting perfectly fine and normal, he's been enjoying the extra attention.

WIP Wednesday: January 20, 2016

This week's WIP Wednesday is going to be super short and picture-less.

Only because it's the Flax sweater again and there isn't much progress to show you guys. So no pictures, there's only an inch more of one sleeve. I didn't get to work on it much today.

What have you been working on today?

Memory Monday: January 18, 2016

Hello everyone!

Yet another Monday, which means yet another work week. I hope you all had a great weekend. Yesterday was Jordan's birthday and all he wanted to do was stay how and relax, so that's what we did. :)

I'm hoping to record sometime this week, but we'll see how everything goes. I have a busy work week this week. :)

FO Friday: January 15, 2016

Even though I've kind of slacked off this week with the blog posts,I have a few things to share with you guys. I finished the child sized Garter Ear Flap Hat by Purl Soho.

I used Red Heart Super Saver in the Sherbet Print and on US 7 DPNs.

Then, I finally got inspired to draw and paint yesterday.

I have to say that I like how the drawing came out more, but I'm happy with both.
While I was painting I was watching Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, in memory of the late Sir Alan Rickman. I'm devastated by his death, but he is no longer suffering. Rest in peace Alan.

I hope that you have a great weekend.

The Maker's Year

After listening to a Playfulday's podcast and reading her blog, I decided that I wanted to take part in it. This isn't the first challenge I had been a part of that Kate has put together. (The Love Your Blog challenge.)

But I'm probably not going to post daily on here or on Twitter, but my goal is to post more about what I'm working on. To document my progress on my goals for the year.

Today, I've been focusing on knitting on the Cabled Knit Cardigan and writing/setting up my journals. I've been doing bullet journaling since August and I've been enjoying it. I'm just trying to spice it up a bit We'll see how it goes.

Are you doing anything for the Maker's Year?

Happy Crafting!

Memory Monday: January 11, 2016

It's a chilly Monday here in the Panhandle and with me being from the North, I actually enjoy the cold. Since we don't get cold weather very much down here. But because of the drop in temperatures, both Jordan and I caught a cold and I'm dealing with Day 2 right now. I've just been on the couch not doing too much all day.

Well, I'm going to go back to being a lazy bum. I hope everyone is in good health!

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: January 6, 2016

Today I'm working on my Flax sweater. I'm more then halfway through the first sleeve. I'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out. I don't have too much to say about it at this point, I haven't put much work into it since the last time. But here's a picture of it:

Memory Monday: January 4, 2016

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great start of 2016. We were pretty busy but that's all right. I'm hoping to record this week, around Thursday or Friday. The class I enrolled on Coursera starts today so I'll be working on watching the videos this week.

I hope your week goes well and that you get through today as smooth as possible.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2016 everyone! I hope your 2015 was the best, and if not...well there's always this year. :)

As you might have noticed, I took the rest of 2015 away from the blog. But that doesn't mean that I have forgotten about you guys. I plan on making the blog better then last year. So to kick off the new year on the blog I'm going to share a few of my goals for this year.

Spin more and learn more techniques. I would love to improve my finished yarns to make them look polished.
I would love to improve my drawings, but to do that I need to practice more.
I want to do more paintings. (On another note: I need to get more paint...)
No intentional gift crafting. I don't mean to a ton of selfish crafting though. If I start something and start thinking about someone in my life, like if it's something that I can see them wearing/using. I've been doing this the past month or two and it saves me from the stress of the time crunch that is Christmas time.

Cooking and Baking

I really would love to cook more at home and get fast food less.
I would also love to bake more things too, less with buying cookies and sweet things and more home-baked sweets.

Be healthier. Both Jordan and I need to drink more water, eat healthier, and take better care of ourselves.
Take some classes. I've been signed up on Coursera for a year or two now, but I didn't really stick with the classes I had signed up for. So I'm going to try a class at a time. Maybe later on in the year I will enroll at the college here, but it just depends on how the year goes for us.
In high school I use to read a lot of books in one month. Now I don't do that as much as I want. So I'm going to try to get myself back up to where I was a few years ago.
Write more everyday in my journal. I would like to keep track of what happens each day. I have a collection of journals and they need to be filled with words.
The Blog needs more love too. More posts that are filled with better sentences, things that make sense, not me rambling on about stuff all the time.
Improve on podcasting. I think I'm getting better at it, but I would still like to get even better.
And the most important thing for me is too pray more. I want to get more in tune with God and study the bible more. I don't want to fall into the lull where the only time I pray is when something difficult is happening in our life, I need to do it all the time.

It seems like a lot of goals here, but trust me there are a few others that I just haven't posted here. I will keep you all updated with how I'm doing with these goals of mine. (Hopefully with pictures!)

Are you starting the new year with any goals or are you going with the flow?
Share it with me in the comments or in the Ravelry group.

Let's have a Happy New Year!
