FO Friday: Nutkin Socks and Some Cross-stitch

So like how my other FO post was I ended up finishing my WIP from Wednesday that day or a day after I had posted about it. But I also finished something else as well.

First is my sister's late Christmas socks.

Pattern: Nutkin
Yarn: Paton's Kroy Socks Jacquards in the Fiesta colorway.
Needle size: US 3 (3.25mm)
Modifications: I did a regular toe decrease instead of the short row toe that's called for in the pattern.
My project page: Nutkin socks

And my other FO is this lovely little thing.

It's another late Christmas present for my mother, since she loves to drink tea and coffee. I had picked up this kit and a few others when I was still working at Joann's. For only 89 cents! I'm really happy with how it came out.

Did you finish anything this week?

Year of Handmade: Prompt 2

In your wildest dreams, where would you like to see your hobby/skill/craft take you?

Hmm, in my wildest dreams my crafts would take me to possibly opening an Esty store. Just selling the things that I made. I would also like to try my hand at designing more, I have ideas it's just trying to get them down on paper is what is stopping me.
Mostly, I just want to learn all the different techniques and try to prefect my skills and add some new skills as well.
I really want to get this blog up to my standards and get more viewers (more opinions). My dream for this blog is to be like the Yarn Harlot's, but of course not as awesome I could only dream about that.

What are your wildest crafting dreams?

WIP Wednesday: Nutkin Socks

I've been working on yet another late Christmas present. This time for my sister.

They are the Nutkin socks, I'll get a better picture of the actual pattern when I'm finished with them.

Here are the project information:
Project page: Nutkin Socks
Needle size; US 3 - 3.25mm
Yarn: Patons-Kroy Socks Jacquard in the Fiesta color way.

I made some changes to the pattern but nothing super big, the details are in my project notes.

Happy Knitting!

Memory Monday

So after a week of dealing with the flu, I'm finally feeling much better. I hope everyone is making it the flu season without getting the flu.

Moka, in mid-sniff.

I hope everyone has a great week!

WIP Wednesday: Center Bears Mitts

So for this week's WIp Wednesday I've been working on the Center Bears Mitts

It's a late Christmas present for my dad. I've finished the first mitt and started the second last night. It's a really easy pattern, it is getting a little boring since it's pretty much all 2x1 ribbing. But I like the way they are turning out.

Yarn: Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Solids in Navy and Rust
Needle Size: US 7- 4.5mm

I hope your week is going well!
Happy Knitting!

Memory Monday, Looking Back

This past week I've been really missing and wanting to go back to Disney World. (Yes, I am twenty years old and no I am not to old for Disney.) It really started when I started to catch up on the Disney Parks' blog and their YouTube channel. So I'm going to share a couple of pictures from our trip last May.

Cinderella's Castle

The Great Movie Ride

Oh, how I miss that place...Hopefully we'll get to go back soon. But now, lets see if I can figure out how to edit some people out of a few of these pictures..

I hope you have a happy Monday!

FO Friday (aka the WIP Wednesday that never was)

So, there was going to be a WIP Wednesday this week but the project I was working on turned into an FO...so VIOLA!

They are the Don't Skid, Honey Mitts by Justyna Lorkowska made out of Red Heat Super Saver in the Light Periwinkle color. They turned out a little too big then I had wanted but hopefully the person who is receiving them will be able to wear gloves under them. The pattern is super easy to understand, it's problem the best fingerless glove instruction I've used so far.

Maybe there will be a WIP Wednesday post next week, that's if the project stays a WIP by then ;)

Happy Knitting!

The Start of My Handmade Year

While I was checking out some new blogs before work yesterday, I stumbled across the blog Rebecca Bee Designs. And she is starting "Year of handmade: Craft blog prompts" and I decided to join her. She has it was there is 24 prompts so enough for 2 a month, and I'll be posting my responses at the beginning and end of each month. (So this week is going to a little post heavy if everything goes right.) So welcome to my handmade year!

1. In the beginning: how did you get into the craft?

Where to begin? I have many crafts so it's hard to decide on which one to start with. But here we go:
Cross-stitching- I actually started this when I was a child, my mother is really into cross-stitching so my sister and I got into it too. I did a few small projects but I also had help starting something or I didn't finish something. But late summer/ early fall, I think, I bought a cross-stitching kit from Wal-mart and some small kits from Joann's.
Knitting- My sister taught me how to knit when I was 12 or 13 years old. She had taught herself from one of those kits you would get from Wal-mart. But I had put it down for a few years because I got frustrated that none of my projects look remotely close to the pictures it was suppose to be. But my last year in high school or a year after I figured out what was wrong and picked up knitting and haven't stop since.
Crocheting- Again this was something my sister taught me. When she was in college she went to a yarn store and learned how to crochet, then she came home and taught me when I was 16 years old. I had taught myself how to chain but could not for the life of me get past that part. That's pretty much what I was doing during the break period of my knitting, so my hands were still busy.
Painting- I also liked to paint when I was a child but I was very serious about it until 2 years ago. My mother-in-law is really into painting and got start in going to a paint night at the local Visual Arts Center, so the day or two after Jordan and I moved down here, she took me to my first class. Then it just took off from there. Jordan and I did a few class together with her and just the two of us. I haven't been to a class and year, but I have a supply of canvases, brushes, and MIL's paint near me so I can paint whenever I get inspiration.
Spinning- I taught myself how to spin on a drop spindle about a year ago. I would love to learn how to spin on a wheel, but in our situation I don't see a wheel in my future right now. I really love spinning it's really relaxing.
Drawing- I've always drawn small pictures growing up, I just really got into improving that skill this past year.

How did you get into your crafts?

Memory Monday.

This is the start of some of my ideas for the blog in the new year. Each Monday, I'll share a picture(s) that I had taken with the past week or weeks. These will be my memories that I want to share with you guys. :)

I hope you enjoy these pictures and I can't wait to hear your feedback.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a great New Year eve and day. Ours wasn't very eventful, we stayed home on New Yea's Eve since I had to work the next day. We only stayed up until 11pm to watch the live stream of Disney World's fireworks that they had on their blog, then we went to bed. And I spent my New Year's Day working the big sale at my job (people are crazy, just saying).
Since it has been a while since my last post, I'll just give a small update. I'm currently working on late Christmas presents and probably will be for a few weeks, so you might see posts about those. And I'm going to try to get a major head start for next year, maybe a present a month.
I also got a new camera for Christmas, so no more webcam pictures! You'll be seeing more pictures from me as I play with it and learn all the settings. :)
I'm also wanting to post more (I know I said that before, but I'm really going to try so bear with me), so keep an eye out in the future.

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
