What's Off My Needle?

Every Fall and Winter I get in the mood to make things for other people. So when I found out that one of my friends is having a baby again I wanted to make her some handmade things for this baby. I made two Barely hats for the new baby and her one year old about a month ago. Yesterday, I had finished an Umbilical Cord Hat.

The pattern is from Stitch n' Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook. It was a super fun and easy pattern, and will make many in the future for gifts. I used Lion Brand's Heartland yarn line in the Sequoia colorway. (To see all my notes, check out my Ravelry project that is the link above.)
I'm currently working on three more gift projects and will be starting two more, I won't say who will be getting three of them, but I will post pictures. :)

What I've been working on.

I had picked up cross-stitching again after years of not doing anything that had to do with it. My last project was when I was around seven years old. So here's what I got so far:

It's going to say "Live Simply, Love Truly, Laugh Freely". It's a cross-stitch kit I had picked up at Wal-mart about a month ago. My mom and sister are really big into cross-stitiching, which made me want to pick it back up. I'm hoping to pick up another kit soon to start as a Christmas present, but that all depends on if I find one that I like.

I've also been working on a shawl. It's called the Mary Lennox MKAL, this is the second mystery knit-a-long that I have joined. (I got two other ones on my project page, but haven't got the yarn for it.) I had finished clue 4 a few days ago and finally got around to taking pictures of it today.

The whole shawl so far.
Clue 4, option A.
This is the first time I ever knitted beads into a project. I had posted this in the Knitmore Girl's Summer of Lace and Bead kal, but it won't been done by the end of the summer.

I also had done a little spinning while I was waiting for Jordan to get out of the grocery store. Yay spinning in public for the win!

I'm spinning up some bamboo fiber in Egyptian Red from Spun Right Round on my Let It Snow drop spindle that I got from Sevenyaks. I did get a few people staring at me but I didn't really care. What was I going to do, just sit there and do nothing?

Bacon and Garlic Brussels Sprouts

While on Pinterest I found a pin for Bacon and Garlic Brussels Sprouts from a blog. I changed a few things but it's still amazing.

Instead of buying a package of bacon, I got a small bag of Real Bacon Pieces, and instead of garlic cloves, I used dried garlic slices. I also used very little oil and a little butter. I topped it with Malt Vinegar and Roman Parmesan Cheese.
If this recipe is something you would like please check out the blog post I linked to above.

Happy Cooking!
