Off the Needles and a Yarn Review

For the past month I was working on a pair of socks using Spun Right Round's Snappy Socks in the Zombie colorway. The pattern is called Da can you hear me MKAL. It was my first mystery knit-a-long and I loved it. Even though these were only my second pair of socks I had knit, they are my favorite. They fit better then my first pair and it also helps that I love the yarn.

I loved working with yarn, I never got bored with the project because I loved to watch the stripes show up. The yarn wasn't so splitty like a lot of commercial yarn and it was super squishy. I also have a good amount leftover from the skein to do a few squares for my mitered square blanket. I've also been spinning some fiber from her as well, 4 oz of 100% Merino in her The Club colorway.

I'm also spinning 3 oz of some lovely Egyptian Red bamboo.

So please go check out Renee Hahnel's shop Spun Right Round on Esty, she has tons of amazing yarns and fibers in wonderful colors. She also is really quick to ship out your order and will get back to you if you have a question. So go check out her shop. :)

DIY Maps to Magnets.

A few weeks after our Disney trip I made magnets out of the maps from the Parks. (I got two of every maps, when we were there with this in mind.) Even though not all of them have actual magnets on them right now, I love them.
These are just a few I made out of the Magic Kingdom.

I got the idea for them from a Disney Parks blog post, they also have one for coasters and photo mats.

Go ahead and do something creative with those old maps of yours. :)

Happy Crafting!

DIY Haunted Mansion Nails Tutorial

The day before we left for Disney, I wanted to paint my nails a Disney theme but I wasn't sure what I could do. I don't have much color choice so I had to really look for an idea. Good thing my mother-in-law had some nail polish or I wouldn't have been able to do this:
They aren't the greatest, they kept getting smudge but I was pretty pleased with them. I got the idea from the Disney Parks Blog. They have quite a few nail tutorials but this one was my favorite, since The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides in Magic Kingdom. So here is the link to the tutorial!
If this is something that you love like me and want to do, please post a picture in the comments! I would love to see everyone's version of this. :)

Disney World Trip 2014

So the first week of May, Jordan and I were lucky enough to be able to go to Disney World for four days. (Thanks to Jordan's work friends.)We shared a Campsite with our friends, we had a tent and they had a tent and an RV. Since we were on a tight budget the whole trip, we were happy with staying at The Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. I'm not much of a "camper", I generally don't like to be outside, but I loved the campgrounds. Next time we go, we might try out the cabins they have there.

The Check-in Reception Post.
When we checked in to get our camping spot, we also got buttons that said Happy Anniversary and had our names on them. Note: when we went, it was suppose to be a year late honeymoon and was closer to our 4 years for being together, not our wedding anniversary. The other people in our group got buttons saying that this was their first visit and/or their birthdays.
The anniversary buttons are at the very top.

After getting set up at the campsite, Jordan and I took a ferry ride to Magic Kingdom. That was the first time (that I can remember) I had a ridden a boat. I loved it. And I think that it was a lot faster then taking a bus there. I definitely preferred taking the ferry, it was so peaceful. And once we got to Magic Kingdom, I was so excited. Since our names weren't on the reservation at the campsite (we paid our friends our part) we didn't get the Magic Bands for free like they did. So we bought ours before we did anything else. It took us a while to get the hang of the whole fast pass thing, which was the only reason why we got the Magic Bands. Since we're a household who doesn't have or want a smart phone we had to wait in line for the fast pass stands to pick our three rides. But over time we managed to get the right times for the rides we wanted to go on.

The Haunted Mansion.
We rode the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and the Pirates of the Caribbean. They were a ton of people the day we went so we didn't get to do much, but we did get to see a lot and we did watch the firework show, along with the Electrical Parade. Before we seen the firework show we got the Glow-with-the-Show Micky ears. Before we even knew we were going I told Jordan that I wanted a pair of them, so I got it! :D

The second day, we went to Hollywood Studios. We rode The Great Movie Ride, Muppet Vision 3D, the Star Wars ride, and watched the one car stunt show and Fantasmic.

The third day, we went to Animal Kingdom. This was probably our favorite day from the whole trip. Jordan and I love animals so we had to do one of the safaris, we also watched a beautiful bird show, rode a couple rides in Dino Land and rode Expedition Everest twice. We also watch Finding Nemo The Musical, it was great!

And the last day, we went to Epoct. We were lucky enough to go during the Flower and Garden Festival. I loved seeing all the flowers and the character made out of shrubs. This was also the first time I went to Epoct, I'm glad that it was during that time of the year. The first ride we went on was Space Ship Earth then the Finding Nemo ride. And when the World Showcase opened, we spent a lot of our time at the China and Japan pavilion. I also had to stop at the England pavilion long enough to get a Cruchie candy bar from a tea shop.

I'm so glad that we were able to Disney and I can't wait until we go next time! Thank you to all the cast members for making it a great experience and to our friends for letting us share your campsite. Keep checking out the blog for a DIY tutorial for some Hauted Mansion themed nails and magnets made out of the Disney Parks maps.
